Q

What were the Cholera outbreaks?

A

There were Cholera outbreaks in 1831, 1848, 1853-54 and 1865-66. Cholera was a disease caused by drinking water that was infected with sewage. It caused extreme diarrhoea and many died from loss of water and minerals. Many believed at that time that the best theory for the cause of Cholera was miasma. John Snow proved this theory wrong.
