Pt6 Engine & Prop. Flashcards
What engine is in the PC12?
PT6A-67B Reverse Flow Free Turbine.
-67 HPower?
1600 HP de-rated to 1,200 HP Take off, 1,000 SHP max climb power.
TQ gauge lets you know you’re achieving these numbers.
-67 internals
4 axial flow compressors/1 Centrifugal impeller. 1 compressor turbine/ 2 power turbines
2 igniters located at 4 & 9 o’clock.
14 injectors, 7 primary 7 secondary??
What does the bleed air valve do?
The Bleed valve prevents compressor stall during low RPM and turbulences by bleeding inter-stage air between compressor assemblies.
How does the fire detection work?
Fire detection: stainless steel tube wraps around the turbine. Tube is filled with helium and has a hydrogen filled chore. Heat expands the gases and trigger a pressure sensor (PIM 7-43)
-67 oil system.
Capacity.
Quantity Alert.
Total capacity 3.6 US Gallons. Oil quantity alert is on the top of the dipstick.
Visually check oil level up to 10 minutes after a flight via the tank side glass.
-67 Oil pumps?
Engine driven fuel pump?
1 engine driven oil pump, 4 scavenge pumps.
If External oil scavenge pump fails so will the Engine Driven Fuel pump as they share the same shaft.
-67 chip detectors, location?
Chip Detector for the Reduction Gear Box, and 275SM also has a chip detector on the Accessory Box.
Prop Control.
Works with Oil Pressure fighting a spring and flyweights to move the sliding piston.
The more oil pressure, the finer the pitch all the way to BETA.
Prop control BETA/reverse.
In BETA the propeller reverse will move the beta (reversing) ring that will mechanically move the piston further forward allowing more oil in the piston than maximum fine pitch.
