pt.2 Flashcards
what is gravity?
force of attraction between any objects that have mass.
what is heat?
when some thermal energy transfers from one object to another, it is called Heat.
[ hot hand transferring heat to a face, once placed on ]
what is/are kinetic energy?
the movement of an object.
[ electrical, sound, thermal, mechanical. light ]
what is/are potential energy?
An object that has stored energy, The potential to do work at a later time.
[ chemical energy, elastic energy, Gravitation energy ]
- bomb/food
what is/are action at a distance force/forces?
forces that act on an object without touching it
[ gravity, magnetism and static electricity ]
What is friction?
a contact force that pulls in the opposite direction to an objects movement when it connects/touches another object
(bike’s brakes slowing down a bike wheel)
What can thermal energy be measured in?
Kelvin or celcius
What is joules named after?
James prescott joule, an english physist. who used his experiments to find the measurement of joules.
