PT questions Flashcards
if 100 amino acids are made, how many codons were present in the mRNA?
100
1 AA = 1 Codon
The sequence of bases on DNA is important for protien synthesis
What is its role in the formation of a protien?
It determines the sequence of Amino Acids
no Trp = where is the repressor protien?
in the cytosol (not binded to the operator region)
No Trp present,
repressor protien?
no trp -> none can attactch to rep protien TMT rep protien can’t change (in terms of shape and size) to become specific + comp to Op region. RNA polymerase can attach to prom region. Ergo, transcription + translation can occur (of the structural genes), meaning enz for biosynth of Trp.
Transcription
TMT DNA unwinds and RNA polymerase attaches to the promotor region of the gene. the DNA template strand is copied into pre-mRNA via complimentary base pairings using RNA polymerase. RNA processing occurs where introns are removed and a 5’ methyl G cap and 3’ poly-A tail are added to form mRNA.The mRNA then leaves the nucleus to head to a ribosome.
