Q

No Trp present,

repressor protien?

A

no trp -> none can attactch to rep protien TMT rep protien can’t change (in terms of shape and size) to become specific + comp to Op region. RNA polymerase can attach to prom region. Ergo, transcription + translation can occur (of the structural genes), meaning enz for biosynth of Trp.

Q

Transcription

A

TMT DNA unwinds and RNA polymerase attaches to the promotor region of the gene. the DNA template strand is copied into pre-mRNA via complimentary base pairings using RNA polymerase. RNA processing occurs where introns are removed and a 5’ methyl G cap and 3’ poly-A tail are added to form mRNA.The mRNA then leaves the nucleus to head to a ribosome.
