Show or hide the Transport window.
Command+1
Start and stop playback.
Spacebar
Move the playback cursor to the beginning of the session’s timeline.
Option+Return
Save your session.
Command+S
Create new session.
Command+Control+S
Move tool clusters laterally along the Edit window toolbar.
Hold the Command key and click and drag the tool cluster to a new location.
Toggle between the Mix and Edit windows.

Toggle between Narrow Mix view and Normal view.
Shift+Command+M
Hide any Edit window.
Option-click on the heading of any Mix window View on any track’s channel strip.
Open the New Tracks dialog box.

Toggle through the stereo or mono options of the New Tracks dialog box.
Press and hold the Command key, and press either the Left or Right Arrow keys.
Cycle through the different track types in the New Tracks dialog box.
Press and hold the Command key, and press either the Up or Down Arrow keys.
Add a new row at the bottom of the New Tracks dialog box.

Select a track without deselecting the currently selected track(s).
Hold the Command key and click on the track name (in the Tracks List, Edit window tracks area, or

Select a range of tracks.
Select the first track in a range by clicking the name, then hold the Shift key and select the last track in the range.
Select (and deselect) all tracks in your session.
Click any track name while holding the Option key.
Advance to the next or previous tracks’ Track Name dialog box.
In the Name Tracks dialog box, hold Command and press the Right Arrow key or the Left Arrow key.
Change the height of all tracks in your session.
Hold the Option key while changing any track’s height.
Change the height of all selected tracks in your session.
Hold the Option+Shift key while changing any selected track’s height.
Solo or mute all tracks in your session.
Hold the Option key while soloing or muting any track.
Solo or mute all selected tracks in your session.

Force-copy when dragging from a computer’s file browser or Pro Tools’ Workspace browser.
Hold the Option key while dragging a file into Pro Tools.

Bring all Workspace browsers to the front.

Move the playback cursor to the beginning of the timeline.
Return key
Move the playback cursor to the end of the timeline.
Hold the Option key, and press the Return key.
Make a selection on the timeline from the playback cursor’s position the beginning of the session’s timeline.
Hold the Shift key and press the Return key.
Make a selection on the timeline from the playback cursor’s previous to end of the session’s timeline.
Hold Shift+Option keys and press the Return key.

Zoom out with the Zoomer tool
Hold the Option key
Zoom out the view of the session to show the longest shown track in its entirely.
Double-click the Zoomed tool.
Smoothly horizontally zoom in or out
Using the Zoomer tool, hold the Control key, then click and drag left or right anywhere in the tracks.
Vertically zoom a single track’s audio waveform
Using the Zoomer tool, hold the Control key, then click and drag up or down on any track
Vertically zoom all tracks’ audio waveforms
Using the Zoomer tool, hold Shift+Control, then click and drag up or down on any track
Enable or disable Insertion Follows Playback
N key
Scroll the Edit window screen to the playback cursor, or the beginning of the selected area on the timeline.
Left Arrow key
Scroll the Edit window screen to the Playback cursor, or the end of the selected area on the timeline.
Right Arrow key
Flip the direction of the Trim tool.

Flip the Pencil tool to become an eraser. Clicking on a note while using the eraser will delete it.

Remove a breakpoint with the Grabber tool
Hold the Option key and click on an existing breakpoint to delete it (you’ll see a small minus sign beside the pointing finger icon, indicating that the breakpoint will be removed)
