How does systemic desensitisation work?

A

It is a form of CBT-it is thought the way we think would affect how we feel and behave
SD usually refers to graded exposure with relaxation. It involves allowing the person to draw up a hierarchy of fears and then involving them doing the less anxiety provoking ones first and then going to more c this is paired with relaxation exercises.
-12-16 sessions on a weekly basis usually 45 mins to 1 hour
-Might involve homework
