Stress they are not alone

Crisis- doctor can refer to rapid response team for short term care
Member of the team not pulling their weight
Speak to them directly (best initial management) and then consider speaking to senior (say you will be present if they want to do it)
If patients are at risk, you must take action and inform a senior- tell culprit you are doing so
A colleague being bullied by a member of the team
Could they approach the perpetrator
Can they speak to supervisor or HR ?- offer to be present
If tried to resolve it and no solution achieved, they could make a formal complaint
Screen for depression (direct to GP if worried)
Colleague has made a mistake
Non judgemental attitude
Emphasise the no blame culture
Incident reporting means that everyone can learn from the mistake and it shouldn’t happen to others

You cannot medically teat colleagues, but you can chat to them
If you don’t know of any services that could help them, say you will look into it and then arrange to meet with them to discuss it further
