- Avolition (lack of motivation)
- POverty of speech
- Social withdrawal

Organic causes of psychosis
Delirium- sepsis
Medication induced- corticosteroids, stimulants
Endocrine disorders- Cushing’s, hypothyroidism
Neurological disorder- temporal lobe epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, Wilson’s disease, Huntington’s disease
When is psychosis likely to be associated with schizophrenia
Symptoms present for >28 days
No organic cause
First rank symptoms present or persistent hallucinations and delusions
Psychiatric disorders which can present with psychosis
Schizoaffective disorder (first rank symptoms and mood symptoms)
Delusional disorder
Schizotypal disorder
Acute and transient psychotic disorder
Mood disorder (mania, severe depression)
Substance misuse (alcohol withdrawal, intoxication with stimulants, cannabis)
What is the prodrome
Period of time when the individual is gradually developing symptoms but has not yet met the criteria for diagnosis

What drug is used for treatment resistant schizophrenia
Clozapine
What are side effects of clozapine
How to monitor
Neutropenia and fatal agranulocytosis
Weekly FBC for 18 weeks then every 2 weeks for a year then every 4 weeks
