What are the four major motives of life?
Love Sex. Food. Work.
Intrinsic motivation
The desire to do something for its own sake and for the internal pleasure it provides
Extrinsic motivation
The desire to do something for the sake of external rewards, such as money or game
What is the triangular theory?
1) Passion
2) Intimacy(being honest)
3) commitment
What is the first major predictor of love?
Proximity

What is testosterone?
Hormone that is one biological factor that seems to promote sexual desire in both sexes
Set point
Natural weight- the genetically influenced weight range for an individual, maintained by biological mechanism that regulate food intake, fat reserves, and metabolism
Bulimia
An eating disorder characterized by episodes of bingeing and purging ( over eating)
Anorexia
An eating disorder characterized by fear of being fat, a distorted body, image, radically reduced consumption of food
Self-fulfilling prophecy
A person belief that he or she is capable of producing desired results
Hierarchy of needs
Your needs must e met at each level before you can even think of the matters posed by the level above it
Top 4 psychological needs
1) autonomy- feeling that your making the right choices
2) competence-feeling able to master challenges
3) relatedness-feeling close to others that are important
4) self-esteem(having self respect)
Instinct theory
A complex behavior that rigidly patterned throughout a species and is unlearned (never was taught)
