Topics in psychology can apply to the wider economy in order to improve or devalue it.
Examples of how psychology can effect the economy
Mental Health- cause/treatments for MH will have implications for the economy. A lot of absences at work are due to MH. However if treatment like drug therapies or CBT will enable employees to attend work this will mean that there will be less sick pay for absent employees .
Role of the father- research into the role of the father shows that fathers are just as important as mothers in the development of children. Policymakers are aware and have made flexible working arrangements.
Social influence- changing behaviours through adverts and campaigns on topics such as smoking, drinking. This could save money for the NHS
