What is Psychological Testing?
A sample of behaviour that is used to make inferences about the individual in a significant social context
It is an objective behaviour and results are summarised quantitatively in terms of scores with psychometric properties met
What does behaviour in Psychological Testing refer to?
- Underlying Disposition (i.e. neuroticism)
- Samples of Behaviour (i.e. irritability)
List down the 4 limitations of Psychological Testing.
- They are only tools; they can’t make decision
- There may be gaps between what the psychologist intends to measure and what the test is actually measuring
- Can become obsolete (development of tech & passage of time)
- May disadvantages a subgroup of test takers due to cultural experience/language background
What is a performance test?
It is a test whereby it requires participants to respond by answering questions/solving problems
Usually administered individually
What is a self-report test?
A psychological test that requires participants to report their behaviour/experiences
Can be administered individually or in groups
What are the disadvantages of a computer administered test?
- Assumes computer literacy
- Requires higher-economical states
- Not suitable for all tests and skills
What are the 3 general principles of ethics?
- Respect for the rights and dignity of people
- Propriety
- Integrity
What does Culture Fair Test refers to?
An intelligence test in which performance is not based on experience with or knowledge of a specific culture.
