What does Freud argue happens in a Boy’s Gender development
The Oedipus complex causes the boy to fancy his mother and want to replace his father, this causes him to identify with the father and internalise his gender roles
What does Freud argue happens in a Girl’s Gender development
The Oedipus complex causes the girl to dislike her mother because of her penis envy and blaming her mother for this. to get over this she replaces the penis envy with the want to have a baby, this causes her to identify with the mother and internalise her gender roles
What does the girl experience that makes her Hate her mother (Psychodynamic Theory)
Penis Envy, because she blames her mother for her not having a penis
What does the boy do because of his Oedipus complex
Fancy his mother, wanting to replace his father and identify with him
