stimulants: methylphenidate or amphetamine
alcohol withdrawal (pt is shaking and hallucinating)
long- acting benzodiazepines: chlordiazepoxide or diazepam
if alcohol withdrawal with vision and delirium tremens- need more titratable form of benzodiazepine

atypical antipsychotics (SGAs)
bipolar disorder (chronic/long-term tx)
lithium (first-line)» valproate/carbamazepine/lamotrigine (anticonvulsants)
pt recovering from bulemia

Benzos are the most effective for anxiety but not first line because of dependence and abuse potential

SSRIs, venlafaxine (SNRI), clomipramine (tricyclic antidepressant- be careful of all the SEs)
panic disorder (acute panic attack)
fast acting benzodiazepines (alprazolam)
long-term panic disorder
SSRIs, venlafaxine (SNRI)
PTSD
SSRIs, venlafaxine (SNRI)
schizophrenia
atypical antipsychotics (SGAs)
social anxiety disorder
SSRIs, B-blockers/Benzos for specific social anxiety (ex. take right before public speaking)
Tourette Syndrome
atypical antipsychotics (most effective but have the most side effects), tetrabenazine, clonidine
