Who is in the community mental health team?
A
Psychiatrist
Community psychiatric nurse (reviews patient in residence, provide counselling, monitor efficacy of treatment, can give depot injections but not prescribe)
Occupational therapist (assess independence and provide skill training)
Social workers (help with housing and financial needs)
Clinical psychologist (psychological assessments and treatments)
Secretary (arranges appts, coordinates meetings)

What is the purpose of the crisis resolution team?
A
- Manage suicidal patients in community
- Visits can occur daily
- Short term intervention (usually not more than 6 weeks)

What is the purpose of the outreach team?
A
- Intensive support and treatment in the community for chronically unwell psychiatric patients
- Patients are usually at high risk of causing harm to themselves

What is a CPA (care programme approach)?
A
- System of care to meet a patient’s psychiatric and social needs after inpatient stay
- Member of CMHT is care-coordinator (or key worker)

What is the early intervention in psychosis team?
A
- Work with young people (under 35)
- Try to decrease duration of untreated psychosis (a strong prognostic indicator)
