Olanzapine or Quetiapine
How long do A Anti - Psychotics need to be used for Acute Mania?
4 to 6 weeks to work
Can be up to 3 months for symptoms to fully improve
What is needed to be done before undertaking A Anti - Psychotics?
Physical examination - Weight, BP, Diet, history of movement disorders, smoking and other meds
Blood tests - fats and prolactin (raised with APs)
ECG - CVD effects (one to three months)
How should anti psychotics be monitored after commencing them?
Whether you are taking the medication in the correct way
