POWER
Is the amoun of influence that an indidivudal can exert over another person
STATUS
is the importance of a individuls positions within a group, as percieved nby other members in the group
LEGITIMATE POWER
Legitimate power is the individual status in a group or society, in general, gives them the right to exercise power over those with lower status. This is based on the acceptance of their role.
REFERENT POWER:
When other people wish and strive to be exactly like you. Individuals identify with or want to be like or liked by this person. We refer to the person for direction.
INFORMATIONAL POWER:
Informational power is having resources of information that are useful and not available elsewhere.
LEGITIMACY OF AUTHORTY:
Individuals are more liekly to obey and listen to individuals whom they percieve to have a higher status. This higher status allows individuals who are following commands to conclude that the person who issues the instruction is responsible for their behaviour and they were only following orders
GROUP PRESSURE:
ndividuals are more likely to disobey and not listen to orders if other members of the group have the courage to go against the command also and a person is more likely to be obedient where there is little or no support resisting the authority figure.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
Selfish voluntary behaviour that deliberately causes physical or psychological harm to another person. Characteristics of anti social behaviour: voluntary action, negatively perceived by society and is intentional.
PRO SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
occurs when a person selflessly does something to help somebody else, with little regard for their own self-intrest or personal safety
