Comorbidities of Panic Disorder
- major depression
- agoraphobia
- bipolar
- substance abuse
- Suicide
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
-look for kids that are ANGRY/irritable and defiant/argumentative towards authority figures. Pattern of breaking rules
Schizotypal personality disorder
-Magical thinking and inability to make close friends. Otherwise can make good grades
Schizoid personality disorder
-social detachment and isolation. Prefer to be alone. Indifferent to praise or criticism
Risperidone
- Typical or atypical?
- SE?
Atypical so less likely to have extrapyramidal SEs (EPS… rigidity, bradykinesia, tremor, akathisia)
- BUT, this one is more likely to have EPS than other atypicals
- tx w/ benztropine if EPS develops
Specific phobia first line tx?
Behavioral therapy. Too many SEs w/ benzos
Fluphenazine SE. Also what is it?
- Typical Antipsychotic that is injected every 2-3 wks
- SE: hypothermia b/c it decreases shivering
Ocd neuroimaging findings
abnormalities in Orbitalfrontal cortex and striatum
Schizophrenia neuroimaging findings
enlarged cerebral ventricles
pAnic disorder neuroimaging findings
increased volume of the Amygdala
PTSD neuroimaging findings
decreased hippocampal volume
“trying to get rid of those memories…”
Bupropion contraindication
Epilepsy (it lowers the seizure threshold)
