Delirium
23 lady I’m a&e with laceration to her arm.Scars from previous injuries and this is her 10th presentation. Talk to her and undertake a risk assessment.
Self harm
48y man presented to GP practice with high blood pressure. On previous attendance he had admitted to an intake of 40 units of alcohol a week. Please counsel him in regards to his alcohol intake and presence of any co-existence psychiatric illness.
Alcohol abuse and anxiety
78 woman, complaining of poor appetite. Tearful and difficulties sleeping since the death of her husband two months ago. Assess her mood, and possible options for management
Grief reaction
48 y man brought in by his wife. She tells you he is feeling very anxious, not been sleeping at night and telling his family he would like to sell the family house and move to the capital to be a minister in the next government. Please assess his mood and discuss management with the patient and his wife.
Mania
24 y man brought in by the police after his wife called them saying he had been talking about killing their two children. He is stating hat he is the son of god. Please talk to him to assess insight and undertake a risk assessment,
Psychosis
26 y woman come to GP because she feels that her heart is racing and is concerned there is something wrong. You note that she has had previous presentations with the same complaint. Please take a history and discuss potential management with a colleague
GAD
32y woman who had her second child four weeks ago. She is upset because she is having difficulties breast feeding the baby and doesn’t think she can cope. She has a 3y old son living at home with her. Please take a history and talk about appropriate management
Postnatal depression
Man come in to talk about his father who is 78. He is worried that he has been increasingly forgetful, leaving the gas on, on two occasions, he is also worried that he has lost weight and not been eating.
Dementia.
19y woman has been asked to see u by her tutor at uni because of her obsessive behaviour there. She wears gloves all the time. And will not touch anything. This has been interfering with her studies. Please take a history.
OCD
23 y man who has been brought in ny his mother because he has threatened to kill himself if his gf leaves him. He has threatened to do this in previous relationships and has taken overdoses in the past. Please take a history and come up with an appropriate management plan.
Borderline personality disorder
17y woman has been brought by her parents because she is finding it difficult to walk. The nurses have commented over her low weight and calculated BMI is 15. Potassium was 2.9 on admission but this has been corrected and is declared medically fit to go home. Please talk to her before her discharge
AN
82 y woman has called the ambulance because she is convinced that her neighbours have poisoned her. Please assess her mental state and take a psych history
