TCP/IP
Provides an error free transmission between two routes (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)
HTTP
A client-server method of requesting and delivering HTML web pages (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
HTTPS
Encryption and authentication for requesting and delivering HTML pages. It is used when sensitive information needs to be transferred. For example, bank account details. (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure)
FTP
Sending files between computers. Used for uploading web pages and associated files to a web server for hosting. (File Transfer Protocol)
POP
Retrieves emails from a mail server, Removes it from the server and it transfers it to your device. (Post office Protocol)
IMAP
Used by mail clients to manage remote mail boxes and retrieve email from a mail server. (Internet Message Access Protocol)
SMTP
Sends mail to a mail server. (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
Define Protocol
A set of rules that allow two different devices to communicate.
Define Standards
A standard is a set of specifications for hardware and software to make them compatible with each other.
