TCP/IP
Governs the transfer of data on the Internet
HTTP

Governs the sending or forwarding of mail from mail servers to their destination

Governs the download of mail from mail servers and deletes the email from the server after it has been downloaded
IMAP
Governs emails on servers so that the same email account can be accessed by different clients simultaneously
RTS/CTS
Governs the transfer of data within a network in order to ensure that data doesn’t collide when transmitted
