generall aetiology of proteinuria?

A

glomerular - 1-20g per day, generally albumin & haematuria, caused by DM, HTN, minimal change, FSGS, SLE, IgA, amyloid

Tubular - 2g per day, LMW proteins generally, ATN, interstitial, obstruction, cystic

overflow - myeloma, rhabdo, polymyositis

A

dipstick testing limited sensitivity for non-albumin proteinuira
- falsely negative in tubular/overflow proteinuria
