Proteins, Vitamins, and Minerals Flashcards
The body needs these as nutrients rather than proteins. All proteins takes in by the body are broken down into these by the digestive system.
Amino Acids
TYPE OF AMINO ACID that is needed by the animal but can be formed from other amino acids by the animal and so does not have to be present.
Non-essential Amino Acids
TYPE OF AMINO ACID that is present in the least amount in relation to the animal’s need for that particular amino acid.
Limiting Amino Acids
They are essential for normal metabolism, growth and vitality. They serve as coenzyme and precursors to coenzymes and play crucial roles in energy production, bone formation, etc.
Vitamins
What TYPE OF VITAMIN are Vitamins A, D, E, K?
Fat Soluble Vitamin
What TYPE OF VITAMIN are vitamins B complex, and C.
Water Soluble Vitamin
These are constituents of various tissues, tissue growth and repair. They are also constituents of skeletal structures, giving rigidity and strength to bones and teeth.
Minerals
CLASSFICATION OF MINERALS that is required in relatively large amount usually in percentage basis.
Macrominerals
CLASSIFICATION OF MINERALS that is required in trace or minute amounts expressed in ppm, mg/lb or mg/kg.
Microminerals
