Proteins Flashcards
What is the shape of the protein determined by
The order in which is determined indirectly by the order of bases on DNA
Name the 6 protein functions
Receptors Enzymes Structural Antibodies Haemoglobin Hormones
What do structural proteins include
Muscles
Tendons
Ligaments
What are antibodies and what’s there function
Proteins made by white blood cells called lymphocytes and their function is to defend the body against agents
What’s haemoglobin and what’s it’s function
Haemoglobin is the protein that gives red blood cells their characteristics colour it’s function is to transport oxygen
What are receptors
A receptor is a protein molecules that recieves chemical signals from outside the cell
What are protein enzymes
The enzymes amylase, pepsin, trypsin and lipase are necessary for breakdown of our food in our digestive system of proteins
