Protein Synthesis Flashcards
1
Genes that have coded instructions for a protein such as insulin, housed on chromatin the nucleus, is transcribed into the length of the RNA ( mRNA)
2
Copies of mRNA are made and they pass out of the pores in the nuclear envelope to the ribosomes
3
Instructions are translated and molecules are assembled in the ribosomes
4
Molecules pass into the cisternae of the rER and along these hollow sacs
5
Vesicles with molecules inside are pinched from the rER and pass to the golgi apparatus (via microtubules and motor protein)`
6
Vesicles fuse with the golgi, where molecules are modified for release
7
Inside vesicles pinched from the Golgi Apparatus, these molecules pass to the plasma membrane
8
Vesicles and plasma membrane fuse and the molecule is released to the outside of the cell
