Tariffs increase the previously perfectly elastic world supply price upwards towards domestic price levels; Consumer surplus loss and deadweight loss (triangles)
Why should we have barriers?
Job protection; Less wage suppression
Why shouldn’t we have barriers (benefits of globalisation)?
