- Meet demand of esthetic and comfort.
- Biologically acceptable to tissue.

- Porcelain
- Metal (for posterior teeth)
- Metal and porcelain facing
- Acrylic temporary (wear, bad odor, porous, easily discolored)

Looks most like a tooth, replacing all the contours of the missing tooth.

Fills the embrasure and overlaps the ridge with a large concave contact.
