bullying
what is relational aggression?
characteristics of a bully- gender differences (boys more reported as bullies - boys its more aggression and girls more likely to be rumours / peer status / is it deficient social skills or skilled manipulators(know how to hurt others in a smart way)?
relational aggression is exclusion, spreading rumours, betrayal- often done to display dominance.
consequences of bullying- loneliness, avoiding school, depression, self esteem
bullying (groups)
bullies seek social dominance and often get it
bystanders take on roles- assistant (joins in)/ reinforcers (provide positive feedback to the bullying)/ outsiders (withdraw from situation)/ defenders (take the victim side)
so interventions should be targeted at peer group level
