proprioceptive modalities Flashcards
what is proprioception (kinaesthesia)?
the ability to perceive and recognize the position of our bodkin space and the state of contraction of our muscles
what is mechanical energy?
kinetic energy (energy of motion) or potential energy (stored energy because of position)
in the case of proprioceptive modalities, which ‘ objects’ are responsible for the mechanical energy?
different parts of our organism
what are some examples of biomechanical movement?
speed, force, direction, acceleration
what are proprioceptive stimuli?
biomechanics movement and the physiological changes because of that movement
what is neuromuscular spindle?
measures the change in length of a muscle over time
what is a joint capsule sensor?
perceives the position of bone segments with respect to another
what is the Golgi tendon organ?
it senses changes in tension
