Propeller and Oil System Flashcards
What are the 2 electric servos associated with the DEEC?
Throttle and stop/feather
What does the DEEC throttle servo do?
Provides backup engine control in case of DEEC failure and controls propeller pitch at settings below flight idle.
What does the DEEC stop/feather servo do?
set by RCM in response to pilot’s condition lever position
Prop shaft RPM
1591 max continuous
Prop diameter?
110 inches
Prop pitch range?
-10 to 90
In ground mode, what meters oil to the prop?
pitch control unit
What controls engine RPM in response to how the pilot sets the throttle and speed lever?
propeller governor
What are the two modes of the propeller control system?
Flight and ground mode
How does flight mode work for the prop governor?
In flight mode, the throttle establishes fuel flow and the propeller governor automatically adjusts oil pressure to maintain a constant RPM by changing blade angle.
How does ground mode work for the prop governor?
In ground mode, throttle position establishes
the blade angle, and the fuel control automatically adjusts fuel flow to maintain a constant RPM, which allows for finer thrust control during taxi.
When is the prop in ground mode?
Between flight idle and full reverse
When is the prop in flight mode?
Between flight idle and max power
What is the beta light an indication of?
The engine is operating in ground mode meaning the throttle lever position controls prop pitch angle (Ground mode)
The beta light may not illuminate if engine RPM is less
than 85%. Why?
At lower RPM the prop control oil pump out put is lower (than max of 450lbs px)
