  2. Plain Folks – This technique establishes the speaker as regular
and ordinary and has the same opinions as the people he is
appealing to. It creates a sense of camaraderie between the
    speaker and his audience.
Example: As a boy who grew up in poverty, I know the hardship
of being poor. This election, vote for me to be the
voice of the poor in Congress.
  3. Glittering Generalities – This technique uses emotionally
appealing words that make us approve and accept an idea
    without examining the evidence.
Example: The best coffee comes from our province. Try it!
  4. Transfer – This technique involves making an illogical
association between one thing and something else that is
generally viewed as positive or negative.
Example: Our ancestors toiled hard because they cared about
the future. If you care about the future, go to the
nearest branch of North South Bank to invest your
    future.
  5. Testimonial – This technique uses an important person or
famous figure to endorse a product.
Example: I am Von Tiu. As a professional basketball player, I
take Pho multivitamins. It keeps me healthy and
    ready for the game.
  6. Repetition – The product name or key word or phrase is
    repeated several times.
Example: Milk Tea! Milk Tea! It is the drink that is made of milk
and tea. Try it and you will love it! Milk Tea!
  7. Name-calling – This technique uses negative words to create
an unfavorable opinion of the competition in the viewer’s mind.
Example: The Congressman is a thief! No intelligent voter would
    support his candidacy!
