Card stacking
Emphasizes one side of information and represses the other side
Glittering generalities
Emotionally appealing phrase closely associated with highly valued concepts and beliefs
Like describing something as - creamy, dreamy, icy, chocolaty
Name calling and ad hominem
Attacking the messenger instead of the argument or evidence that is presented
Plain folks
Convinces an audience that an idea is good because they are the same ideas of the vast majority
Testimonial
As a celebrity claims that an idea or product is good. This technique is used to convince us without examining the facts more carefully
Transfer
Carries over the authority, sanction and prestige of something or someone we respect and revere to something he would have accepted
Fear
