What were the key aims of Nazi propaganda?
Persuasion
1) to vote NSDAP before 1933 and 2) to support the regime after 1933

13th March 1933
Why was Alfred Rosenberg a significant figure in the third Reich?
His organisation (the Rosenberg Office) had official oversight of cultural policy as well as surveillance of ideological belief within the party
State some methods of Nazi propaganda
=same messages repeated to make political arguments seem true
=consistent barrage of images of Nazi power and triumphalism
=complete control over the media and the news
=control of people’s perception of the world by overwhelming them with constant similar imagery
e.g The Volksempfanger 301 (People’s receiver)
Why was the people’s receiver so successful?
Half the price of other radios
In 1933 25% of households owned a radio, by 1939 70%
Sate radio not all propaganda = populist entertainment kept people listening, lured them into hearing approved party new and speeches

How did the Nazi’s use propaganda to influence education and the youth?
=Hitler Youth
= April 1933 Law against the Overcrowding of German Schools and Universities
=1934 Nazi ideology made compulsory and embedded throughout the school curriculum e.g eugenics
When did Book burning take place?
May 1933, Goebbels organised public burning of “degenerate” books
this included anything containing communism, Jewish authors or liberal/ democratic ideology supporting Weimar Republic
When was the Berlin Olympics?
1936= majorly propagandized
What was the Hitler Myth?
1941- Goebbels creation of the “Hitler Myth” as his greatest success
presented Hitler as a “man of the people”
hard working, political genius
Reality:
Lazy
By 1934 the Hitler cult helped consolidate power quickly and hid failures of the regime
