Every tie you spot a pronoun, you should immediately ask yourself the following two questions:
- Is it completely clear, not just to me but to a pedantic test writer, who or what the pronoun is referring to?
- Does the pronoun agree in number with the noun it is referring to?
Sometimes pronouns can be the subject of a sentence, in which case the verb has to agree with the pronoun.
