Simple predicate
Consists of only a verb, verb string, or compound verb
It is the action verb or linking verb
Compound predicate
two or more simple predicates connected
Complete predicate
Consists of the verb and all accompanying modifiers and other words.
Simple subject
The subject of a sentence
Compound subject
Consists of two or more simple subjects connected
Complete subject
Consists of the simple subject and all the words that describe the subject
PA
predicate adjective- follows/completes the predicate (a linking verb) and tells about the subject
PN
predicate nominative- follows/completes the predicate (a linking verb) and tells us what the subject is by naming it
