are words (or phrases) we substitute for nouns, the replaced noun is called the antecedent
🔹PRONOUNS
used in place of the person or people we are talking about.
🔹PERSONAL PRONOUNS
- I, we, you, he, she, it, us, they, them
Example:
I like coffee
pronouns used when asking questions
🔹INTERROGATIVE PRONOUNS
- who, whom, what, which
Example:
Who would like coffee?
pronouns that represent a thing or things.
🔹DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS
- this, that, these, those, such, so
Example:
This coffee tastes good.
pronouns that does not refer to any specific person, thing, or amount.
🔹INDEFINITE PRONOUN
Singular - all, everybody, anyone, another, everything, no one, nothing, somebody, nobody, someone
Plural - both, few, many, others
a pronoun that that introduces a relative clause. It relates to the word it modifies.
🔹RELATIVE PRONOUNS
- who, whom, whose, which, that
Example:
The person who drank coffee last night, was me.
used to refer to a specific person, thing (the antecedent) belonging to a person or thing.
🔹POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS
- mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs, its
Example:
“I am yours”
used with an active voice verb in order to reflect the action of the verb back on the subject
🔹REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS
- myself, yourself, themself, himself, herself, itself, ourself, themselves, ourselves
Example:
I saw myself in the mirror
