A
Where the nucleus pulposus, ruptures out of the annulus fibrosis.
Can be degeneration, prolapse, extrusion, sequestration
L4/L5/S1 most commonly affected
Good prognosis <25% requiring surgery
20-35 age group

Analgesics
Muscle relaxants
Gentle early mobilisations
Acupuncture
Surgical discectomy
Chemonucleolysis (chymopapaiu injections into the disc with the aim of dissolving the nucleus pulposus).
