Prokaryotic Cells Flashcards
1
Q
What is the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells?
A
Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus, or any internal membranes, so unlike eukaryotic cells, they have no membrane-bound organelles
2
Q
What are some of the properties of prokaryotic cells?
A
70S ribosomes, DNA molecule loose in cytoplasm and murein cell wall
3
Q
Compare prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells
A
- Prokaryotic cells are small 1-10um and eukaryotic cells are larger 10-100um
- Prokaryotic cells don’t have a nuclear envelope but eukaryotic cells have a double membrane
- Prokaryotic have no chloroplast but eukaryotic have them in plants
4
Q
What is an example of a prokaryotic cell?
A
Bacterium
