projectile motion Flashcards
projectile in flight definition
a body that is moving within a fluid not in contact with ground
3 factors affecting the horizontal distance travelled by a projectile
- height of release
- speed of release
- angle of release
free body diagrams
weight
air resistance
parallelogram of forces
method to show the size and direction of resultant force acting on a body
parabolic curve
a uniform curve that is symmetrical about its highest point
non parabolic
a curve that is not symmetrical about its highest point
Bernouli’s principle
faster fluid flows the less pressure they exert. The slower the fluid flows the more pressure they exert creating a lift force
aerofoil
a streamlined structure with at least one curved surface
they can be symmetrical or asymmetrical
above projectile
air travels further and faster
creates low pressure
below projectile
air travels less far and slower
creates high pressure
