Project Scheduling Flashcards
Project Schedules
A broad schedule developed during the project conception stage and addresses items such as programming, site studies, and acquisitions, design and other activities. A good project schedule clearly identifies the owner’s project delivery requirements and provides a tool for managing each stage. Serves as a road map, plotting out a logical succession of steps.

Construction Schedules
A Schedule should reflect
The owner’s requirements by identifying project milestones dates, including the estimated time of the project conception programming, site acquisition, design, procurement (bidding/negotiating/purchasing), construction and occupancy

A Schedule should reflect
Decisions to be made and milestones to be achieved at each project phase and the ramifications when the milestones are not met.

Determines activities that are dependent upon each other and the longest path for completion of those activities. In this approach, the schedule is dictated by the activities that are on the critical path to the completion date of the project. As the project progresses, this managing the schedule can compare actual versus predicted performance times for each step and adjust the rest of the schedule accordingly.

Methods Technique
Provides for the establishment of a required date of occupancy or use for the project, then identifies all preceding milestone dates by working backward from that date. Tis approach is used when the completion date is the most important scheduling criterion. Schools, universities, dormitories, retail complexes, hospitals, and other time-critical or revenue-generating projects may be scheduled using this method.
