Programming Flashcards
It is an attempt to analyze and define an architectural problem and establish all the guidelines and needs on which the design process can be based;
Architectural programming
Five steps of programming
- Establish goals
- Collecting facts
- Uncovering concepts
- Determining needs
- Stating the problem
Four components of a Program outline format
- Total building group
- component building
- Activity center
- Space unit
it is a term created by Edward T. Hall to describe the interrelated observations and theories of humans’ use of space as a specialized elaboration of culture. It deals with the issues of spacing between people, territoriality, organization of space, and positioning of people in space,
proxemics
they are specified in building codes, it is the amount of usable floor area required for one person including that person’s share of floor area required for circulation to be safely housed in a space
Space standards / net square feet per occupant
is the net-to-gross ratio. The ratio maybe dictated by a client or maybe obtained using common efficiency ratios. This ratio ranges from 60-80%; any percentage below 60% is considered inefficient
