Introduction Pieces to be played before operas
What were concert overtures written for in the romantic period?
They could be written for independent performance as well
What is the Symphonic poem also known as?
A tone poem
What is a Symphonic Poem?
A large, one-movement orchestral work that is designed to evoke a mood or an idea.
What makes a Symphonic Poem special?
It is a much freer musical form, being not written in the first movement form.
What is a program symphony?
a work in several movements based on literary theme.
What is Incidental Music?
Music that could be played before and in between acts of a play, to compliment the actions or mood.
