S: Bopushev Stalbek Toktosunovich – komuz a national Kyrgyz instrument (3 min.) (a mic, a chair)

There is a saying that the inner world and character of any nation are reflected in its music. So, today there is a performance on a national musical instrument called komuz. It is made from wood and has only three strings. In the hands of a master, it sounds astonishing. Komuz has been used by Kyrgyz people since ancient times. In folk songs, momentous events, daily life of people, customs and traditions, and love songs are often reflected with the musical accompaniment of komuz.

Today, Stalbek Toktosunovich BOPUSHEV wants to perform one of the amazing compositions which is called Mash-Botoi by Atai Ogonbaev. The composition reflects the horse race during the traditional equestrian game of Kok-Boru. This game is also known as Kokpar in Kazakhstan and Hungary. This game shows the true character and spirit of nomadic people.

You know Tawani I was attending an interesting philosophy class the other day. The professor asked that if there are any idiots for them to please stand up. Very strange question I thought to myself. But after a long hard minute my friend stood up and the professor asked why do think of yourself as an idiot? He said: ’’I don’t professor, I just didn’t want you to be standing alone.’’
