1) Radical (curative) e.g. chemotherapy for testicular cancer
2) Neoadjuvant: used prior to e.g. surgery
3) Adjuvant: used after e.g. surgery
4) Palliative: used for symptom relief
5) Clinical trials

For haematological cancers may refer to treatment phases

  • Induction: induce remission
  • Consolidation: complete remission
  • Intensification: extend remission
  • Salvage: regain remission
  • Maintenance: retain remission

A
  • individual dosing strategy based on GFR - mainly used for carboplatin
  • efficacy and toxicity correlates with AUC
    high AUC = toxicity
    low AUC = reduced therapeutic effect

AUC calculated from plasma conc (mg/l) against time in hours
