What score is a typical volleyball played till?
25, but the winning team needs to win by 2 or more points.
What is a motor or movement skill?
It is an activity that involves voluntary muscular movement with the correct degree of muscular control, to complete a reasonably complex predetermined task.
Skill performance is classified by?
Flowing, smooth and sequential movement, right action, relaxed during movement, quick reaction with precision, high level of consistency, perfect timing, organised movement
What are the three learning stages in order?
Cognitive (beginner), associative (intermediate, training level) & autonomous (advanced/expert)
What is the cognitive stage of learning?
Thinking phase of learning, must see a skill performed to reproduce the action, instruction of specific teaching cues for required action, requires continuous feedback, skills performed at low level of fluency and accuracy
What is the associative stage of learning?
Practiced skill till it is performed consistent and accurate,
Associate the feeling of the movement to the outcome (visual promotes not required), instruction focusing on encouraging of practice constructive feedback
What is the autonomous stage of learning?
Advanced phase of skill development; skills performed at a high level of proficiency and accuracy no thought needed for the mechanics of the skill - automatic response
What is a gross motor skill?
It involves the movements of large parts of the body or of the whole body
What is a fine motor skill?
It involves precise hand or finger movement skills
What is an outcome goal?
They are to do with winning or performing better then someone else. Eg. Selected to represent your national team.
What is a performance goal?
It concentrates solely on comparing the individual’s performance with their previous performance. Eg running 400m in less then 55 seconds
What is a process goal?
They focus on the technique of a performance rather then the overall result. Eg. Completing the hurdles by using the correct number of strides between hurdles and not changing lead legs.
What is an open motor skill?
It is a skill performed in an unpredictable environment in which the object or context is changing. The location of defenders and the flight path of the ball are factors to which the performer must respond.
