What are the 6 Cs?
Care - giving someone attention, support (emotional or physically), empathy and understanding towards others, assistance.
Compassion - ability to understand and empathise with the suffering towards others.
Competence - my ability to be able to use my skills, knowledge with effectiveness and confidence.
Communication - to be able to have good communication skills with patients, other healthcare professionals and other emergency services.
Courage - mental strength to confront difficulties, difficult situations, willingness to face challenging situations.
Commitment - refers to dedication, responsibility and loyalty.
Tell me what a near miss is?
An event that may have resulted in harm (Wrong drug or dose, out of date drug) but didn’t happen because someone intervened.

How can I support an individual to make informed choices?
Giving them correct information that they understand.
Help them understand any percussions of their choices
Discuss benefits of treatment pathways.
Speak to patients GP and family members to make them aware.
What barriers to communicate may we come across?
Substance misuse
