National Association of Realtors (NAR)
Not all licensees are REALTORS, the word is a registererd trademark. It’s use is prohibited in the advertising or sales efforts by any broker who is not a member.
Oklahoma Association of REALTORS (OAR)
An ORGANIZATION formed to assist individual boards in local, state, and national matters, concerns itself with matters of legislation, license law, education, etc.
National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB -REALTIST)
The national association of real estate brokers (NAREB) was established in 1947. It’s members are REALTISTS and are primarily African Americans and other minority real estate licensees. However, open to all qualified real estate licensees. The Oklahoma City Board is a NAREB chapter.
Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO)
An association of state licensing officials, usually the administrative staff and members of each state commission. The main emphasis is the exchange of information and ideas regarding licensing and the regulation and adoption of similar policies and standards for all states.
Graduate, REALTORS Institute - GRI (Most Common)
A designation members of the NAR may earn. The course is 90 clock hours on subjects such as marketing, servicing listings, real estate law, etc.
Institute of Real Estate Management
An association for people who specialize in property management. Interested persons may earn the “certified property management designation” or the “accredited resident manager.”
Building Owners and Managers Association
An association for persons interested in managing commercial buildings such as office buildings. They have the building owners and managers institute as their educational program.
Real Estate Educators Association
An association for real estate teachers. Interested members can earn the “distinguished real estate instructor designation” (DREI).
The Oklahoma Real Estate Educators Association
An association specifically for real estate teachedrs in OK. They meet on a regular basis and sharre information about current law changes and issues regarding teaching real estate in OK.
South Central Educators Group, Inc.
A group of real estate teachers from OK, TX, AK, LA, MI who share information and techniques about teaching real estate subjects.
Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council
Members of this association can earn the “accredited buyer representative” designation (ABR). Interested persons learn about representation of buyers in the real estate transaction.
Seller Agency Council
Members of this association learn about representation of sellers in the real estate transaction and earn the “accredited seller representative” designation (ASR).
National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers
An association for appraisers which conducts many conferences for the purpose of helping it’s members stay abreast of circumstatnces and changes affecting appraising.
National Association of Master Appraisers
An association of appraisers for the purpose of promoting professionalism, education, and awareness of current changes in the appraisal industry.
American Society of Real Estate Counselors
An association that assists real estate counselors in maintaining a high level of currently applicable information about real estate for the purpose of advising their clients appropriately on real estate issues.
