H&R Block Emerald Prepaid Mastercard

A

Emerald Card® is a reloadable prepaid debit card that can be used online or in-store wherever Mastercard is accepted.

Install the MyBlock Mobile app and set alerts to track spending and balance.
Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for safe, contactless payment.

In addition to an H&R Block advance and tax refund, load the account with payroll direct deposit, checks or cash. Use every day as an inexpensive alternative to a traditional bank account.

There are NO:
Activation fees.
Monthly activity fees.
Purchase fees. (Retailers may charge a fee for cash back transactions)
Overdraft or NSF (insufficient funds) fees.

Refund Advance

A

The Refund Advance is an interest-free refund anticipation loan that is paid by the client’s tax refund and is exclusive in participating retail offices, both company and franchise owned.

This program is an early season offer; available early January through the end of February.

Features:

No loan fees
No impact to credit
APR – 0%
Funds added to the client’s Emerald Card typically same day as filing (Emerald Card is required for Refund Advance)

Note: H&R Block associates cannot apply for this loan program.

Refund Transfer - Pay nothing Out of Pocket

A

Clients use their tax refund to pay for tax preparation and related product fees instead of paying upfront.

Allows clients who do not have a personal bank account access to an electronic banking system, by allowing them to set up a temporary refund deposit account to receive their tax refund.

Avoid check cashing fees when Emerald Card or direct deposit is selected as disbursement option.

Allows clients to have their tax refund deposited in a secure account with secure disbursement options.

A

The H&R Block Emerald Advance® Line of Credit is a year-round line of credit that provides the ability to repeatedly borrow and repay money, up to a maximum amount determined by the bank.

This product is available in participating H&R Block offices each Fall.

Line of credit up to $1,000.
Load funds onto the client’s Emerald Card.
Client has the option to pay down the balance with their tax refund.
Maintain the line of credit year-round

Peace of Mind Extended Service Plan

A

Peace of Mind® Extended Service Plan reduces client stress and anxiety associated with tax returns by providing comprehensive protection and access to services for the life of the tax return. In the event of an issue after filing, the client should contact the local H&R Block office.

Tax Notice Services for any income tax notice or letter the client receives.
Audit representation by an H&R Block qualified person for any audit.
Underpayment reimbursement up to $6,000 for additional taxes assessed due to a difference in interpretation between the tax authority and H&R Block or other H&R Block error.
Included as part of the Block Advisors experience.

What is Digital Drop Off?

A

Drop-off service is a time-saving and convenient tax prep option that should be offered to all clients. Clients can drop off their taxes at a tax office or submit their documents digitally to be completed by a tax preparer. Included here are procedures for processing drop-off in-person or digitally.

What are the procedures for the digital drop-off?

A
  1. Locate the client in Work Center by searching the client list for the client’s first name, last name, or phone number.
  2. Click on the Drop-Off icon next to the client’s name.
  3. If the client is new to your office, you can add a new client account for them. Click the icon to the right of the search bar. Choose “Start a Drop-Off” as the action and provide the client’s name, phone number, and email address.
  4. Once you have either located the client or created a new client, you can begin the drop-off process. The next step is to assign the return to a tax preparer. For returning clients, their prior-year tax preparer will automatically be provided. If the client does not have a prior tax preparer, you can use the Help me choose link to go through matching questions and receive a list of tax preparers eligible to prepare the client’s return.
  5. Select a Tax Pro at the identified level or higher from the drop down arrow and then choose Digital (send an invite) and click Invite.
  6. Once the invite has been sent, the client will receive the following message:
  7. Once the client clicks Start Drop Off, (see above image) the submission flow will progress through My Block℠ and they will receive custom messaging in My Block which updates their status.
  8. When the client submits their information, the tax preparer will receive a notification that the drop-off is ready to begin. The tax preparer can review what the client provided by clicking the Online Summary button on the service card and looking at the Documents tab for new documents.
  9. When ready to start the return, click Start Return from the drop-off card in the client account or on the Home page. This will launch BlockWorks with client information prefilled into a new return.
  10. Inside their MyBlock account, clients will be redirected to their MyBlock dashboard.

Approve Online is a capability that enables a retail return prepared by a Tax Professional to be reviewed and approved by the client online. The client can access the return from their PC, mobile phone, or tablet, wherever they have internet access.
