What is Mass Production?
Mass Production is when a product or clothing item is made in large quantities. It is suitable for product that rarely need to be redesigned.

Mass Production can make a lot, and therefore is best for things needed in large quantities.
Often made over seas which causes Labour costs to be lower.
Name the disadvantages of Mass Production.
Mass production is often made overseas and do not get paid as much as they should.
The quality of the products in Mass production are not always the best quality.
What is Just in Time production?
Just in time production is when the product/material is sent just when needed.
What are the advantages of Just in Time Production?
Small companies will not go into dept as they will order things when needed and nothing will go to waste.
What are the disadvantages of Just in Time Production?
The product/material may not be made/sent in time.
What is Batch Production?
Batch production has a certain amount of the product being made.
Used when there is a pattern and high level of design.
Garments are designed to fit certain size range and shapes.
What are the advantages of Batch Production?
Batch Production can produce a set amount of sizes or shapes of the product. For example the quantity varies from a set of four cushions made by a designer/maker to 20,000 jumpers made for a department store.
Materials are cost-effective and manufacturing costs are lower than one-off production.
What are the disadvantages of Batch Production?
Batch production requires a high level of design, pattern making and sampling skills.
What is One-Off Production?
One-Off Production is when a product is made only once. the product will also fit the customer.
For example a made-to-measure wedding dress is made specificity for the bride.
What are the disadvantages of One-Off production?
Labour and material costs are high and the product is very expansive.
What are the advantages of One-Off Production?
One-Off production is good as the customer will get exactly what they are looking for.
A lot of design ad work had gone into making the product so it is made to the best it can be.
the product will last a long time as it has had all attention on the one thing.
