What’s the difference between AC and DC motors… Which do we use?
AC motors are considered heavy duty able to withstand frequent long use. This is especially important for professionals who have the tendancy to have their nozzles against the brush. The ERGO AC motor has an average lifespan of 2000 actual working hours which would be equivelent to 4000-8000 blow drys. DC motors were designed for retail customers as they are approximately 40% smaller and less powerful than an AC. That also means the DC motor is exceptionally light. Unfortunately, the smaller motor has a shorter lifespan, pushes less airflow and is generally reliant on heat.
Why does our blow dryer have a shorter profile?
The smaller size allows for more ergonomic usage in 3 ways.
- Proper arm elevation
- Central balancing of weight
- Allows stylist to be closer to their work.
