Q

What are the stages of mitosis?

A
  • A copy is made of the chromosomes
  • chromosomes shorten and thicken into two identical chromatids
  • chromosomes line up at the equator and the centromeres attach to spindle fibres
  • chromosomes move to opposite poles, spindle fibres contract and chromatids are separated
  • nuclei reform and cytoplasm divides into two daughter cells with identical full sets of chromosomes
